In October 2019, a historic wave of unity washed over Chile as its people rose against governmental abuse and corruption. For the very first time, Chileans stood together, fueled by hope after enduring years of oppression. Yet, amidst this powerful movement, stories of police brutality, ocular injuries, and excessive force against protesters emerged, painting a stark picture of the struggle.
Have you ever felt the pain of your homeland from miles away, wishing to make a difference?
As a Chilean living abroad, I was profoundly moved but felt powerless. In response, I embarked on a creative odyssey. I envisioned a project that could bridge continents, offer solace, and kindle hope. Thus, the initiative "To Chile from One Chilean Abroad" was born.
Can words and images truly heal wounds and create a global support network?
In this groundbreaking project, I harnessed the power of poetry, weaving encouraging verses that echoed the resilience of the Chilean spirit. Alongside these poignant words, the lens of a talented Chilean photographer, calle Silvestre, captured the essence of our nation’s struggle, resilience, and beauty. The collaboration of verse and imagery became more than just a campaign; it was a beacon of unity.
